Better together.
Stronger as a group.
Group programs bring people with shared experiences together in a professionally facilitated, evidence-based setting. Often more powerful than individual therapy for certain presentations — and more accessible too.

Children, adolescents & adults
Delivered on a needs basis
The power of shared
experience.
You're Not Alone
Hearing others describe experiences that mirror your own is immediately normalising — reducing shame, isolation, and the belief that something is uniquely wrong with you.
Peer Learning & Modelling
Group members learn from each other's strategies, progress, and setbacks — adding a dimension of real-world insight that individual therapy can't replicate.
Structured & Evidence-Based
Every program is designed around an established evidence base — not loosely themed conversations. Facilitated by a psychologist throughout.
More Accessible
Group programs are typically more cost-effective than individual sessions, making quality psychological support accessible to more people who need it.
Our Programs
Programs designed for
real community needs.
Our group programs are developed in response to genuine community need and delivered when sufficient demand exists. Each program is designed and facilitated by a psychologist — not a generic template.
PROGRAM 01
Parenting Intervention & Support
Evidence-based group programs for parents navigating the challenges of raising children — covering behaviour management, emotional regulation support, communication, and building strong family connections. Particularly suited to parents of children with additional needs or challenging behaviours.
PROGRAM 02
Children & Adolescent Self-Care Workshops
Psycho-educational workshops designed for children and teenagers — building emotional literacy, self-regulation skills, healthy coping strategies, and the psychological tools that support long-term wellbeing. Delivered in school or community settings.
PROGRAM 03
Social Skills & Life Skills Programs
Structured group programs for children and adolescents developing foundational social and life skills — including communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, friendship skills, and navigating social situations with confidence.
PROGRAM 04
Bullying — Response & Recovery
Programs addressing the psychological impact of bullying for young people — building resilience, assertiveness, and self-worth in those who have experienced bullying, alongside prevention-focused programs for schools and community organisations.
PROGRAM 05
Active Psychology Group Sessions
Movement-integrated group psychology — combining evidence-based psychological intervention with physical activity in a group setting. Particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and motivation challenges where the group dynamic amplifies the benefits of active psychology.
How It Works
From interest to
first session.
Because group programs are delivered on a needs basis — forming when there’s sufficient interest in a particular focus area — the process works a little differently from individual psychology. Here’s how it works.
| Group Size | Typically 6–12 participants — small enough for genuine connection |
| Duration | Program-dependent — typically 6–10 weekly sessions of 60–90 minutes |
| Location | Douglas or Railway Estate clinic, or community / school settings |
| Facilitation | Led by a psychologist throughout |
| Medicare | May apply — contact us to discuss your specific situation |

We Assess Suitability
A brief conversation with one of our psychologists to understand your situation and confirm that a group program is the right fit — or whether individual support would serve you better.
Program Forms
Once sufficient interest exists for your program type, we'll schedule the group, confirm dates, and send you all the information you need before the first session.
Group Sessions Begin
Weekly sessions delivered by a psychologist — structured, evidence-based, and designed to build real skills over the course of the program.
Individual Support if Needed
Group programs can run alongside individual sessions where needed. If something comes up that requires one-on-one support, we can arrange that seamlessly within our team.

Common Questions
Group Programs
FAQs
Questions about how group programs work, who they’re for, and how to get involved.
Why are programs delivered on a needs basis?
Group programs require enough participants to be effective — a group of two isn’t a group. We develop and schedule programs when there’s sufficient registered interest in a particular focus area, which means the group that forms is genuinely cohesive and relevant to everyone in it. Register your interest and we’ll contact you as soon as a suitable program is forming. In the meantime, we’re happy to discuss whether individual support might be helpful while you wait.
Are group programs as effective as individual therapy?
For many presentations, yes — and for some, group programs are actually more effective than individual therapy. The evidence is particularly strong for social anxiety, parenting challenges, addiction recovery, and adolescent social skills development, where the group dynamic itself is a core therapeutic mechanism. That said, group programs aren’t right for everyone, and some presentations are better suited to individual support. We’ll help you work out which approach is right for your situation.
Is everything I share in a group session confidential?
Confidentiality within group programs works differently from individual therapy. All participants are asked to commit to confidentiality — agreeing not to share what others disclose outside the group. Your psychologist facilitator holds all standard professional confidentiality obligations. At the start of each program, the facilitator will clearly explain how confidentiality works in the group context so every participant understands what to expect before sharing anything personal.
Can my child attend a group program without me?
Yes — most of our children’s and adolescent programs are designed to be attended independently by the young person, with parental involvement structured into the program at key points (e.g., a parent briefing at the start and end of the program). Some programs — particularly parenting programs — involve parents only. The format varies by program. We’ll give you a clear picture of how involvement works for the specific program your child is joining before it starts.
Can you design a custom group program for our school or organisation?
Yes — and this is something we do regularly. We can design and deliver tailored group psychology programs for schools, sporting clubs, workplaces, and community organisations. Programs are built around your specific context, cohort, and goals. Contact us directly to discuss what you’re looking for and we’ll outline how we’d approach it and what’s involved.
Can I attend a group program and individual sessions at the same time?
Yes — and for some people this is the most effective combination. A group program addresses shared challenges in a collective setting, while individual sessions allow space to work through more personal material that isn’t suited to a group context. If you’re already seeing one of our psychologists individually, they can advise on whether adding a group program would complement your current work.
